in the nude

The local coffee+lounge place I like to go (The 806) is having a nude art show for the month of February. I've never done anything nude before, so I thought I'd try it. The boyfriend was happy to model for me.

I decided to do a paper-piecing display and I think they turned out kinda fun.
I made the man out of paper that looks like metal and used paper that has a wood grain for his penis. For the lady, I used pink snake skin paper. I had trouble with her feet, so I just gave her some stilettos to wear, and they match her mask! Her "pink parts"  are cotton fiber wrapped in a circle to simulate hair. I think the fish adds some humor (as if it was needed :) )
Let me know what you think.

If you need to see a better view, go to the 806 on 6th and Georgia here in Amarillo. I'll have these two pieces hanging up somewhere!

"you were always on my miiiiiind...you were always on my mind"

Well, I have had other things clogging my mind besides "what can I create in my craft room" these past two weeks. I don't like that. I like being in my craft room. My boyfriend once told me that my craft room smells like a kindergarten classroom. I wonder if Scentsy has ever considered making a scent like that?  It could be a mixture of construction paper, crayons and glue and the wax piece could be multi-colored and covered in glitter!

Here's one thing I'm glad I'm not alone in: my friend, Shannon Caldwell (what up! woot woot) was recently browsing Etsy (a site I heart really hard) and found a Pringles can that was made into a dry spaghetti container. She said the same thing I always do: "so easy, why didn't I think of that!?"

Now, since I didn't make anything this week, I thought I'd share something I found on Etsy that's NOT easy. What this guy creates makes me remember one of my mottos: I do many things well, none of which generate income.

another one bites the dust

Yes. It's a new year, in case you hadn't noticed. I'm not going to bother with resolutions, because, of course I want to do more art stuff in the new year. Why wouldn't I? Every morning when I wake up, the first thing I think about (after I figure out what day it is) is art stuff. Colors, shapes, words, ideas - all that.
So far this year, I've managed to paint my kitchen ceiling white. I know it's not fancy and it's not artsy, but it really needed to be repainted. Now it doesn't look so much like hillbillies live here, just slobs.
But I did think of some stuff I want to do. As a matter of fact, my friend's Suzannes' birthday is coming up and I promised her a fairy door. Also, I want to make new bookmark thingys for my bookclub girls. Both of these things are this week....so what the hell am I doing on the stinking computer!? I gotta get to work!
